A LONDRES : FUNDAMENTALS on EU, EU Issues & Research

• DECISION MAKING IN THE EU
  This unit investigates the decision-making process in Europe. Bringing together a range of competencies, the European Union will be examined in light of its institutional structure, its history, its policy-making and its motivations.
• POLITICAL ECONOMY OF THE EU
  The overall aim of the unit is to introduce and analyse the process of European integration in political economy terms. The course recognises the interdisciplinary nature of the policy-making process in the European Union by highlighting
the interdependence of the political and economic influences in Europe.
• COMPARATIVE RESEARCH : EXPLORING THE CONTEXT IN EUROPE
  Policy making in the EU is comparative by nature. This unit develops theoretical and substantive knowledge about the different models of Policy provision as described through differing welfare states in the EU .
• GRADUATE RESEARCH METHODS AND SKILLS
  This unit introduces students to basic elements in the construction of research designs, quantitative and qualitative, and their relationship to particular types of research questions likely to arise in the preparation of dissertation and research work.

• ENVIRONNEMENT JURIDIQUE COMMUNAUTAIRE
  Le droit européen de la concurrence : les ententes, abus de position dominante, fusions-acquisitions, aides d'Etat, entreprises publiques et services publics, droit douanier, propriété intellectuelle, brevets..
• ESPACE EUROPEEN, POLITIQUES INDUSTRIELLES ET STRATEGIES DES ENTREPRISES
  Facteurs macro et micro économiques de l'environnement du décideur européen, mondialisation, géopolitique économique, stratégies de production, critères de localisation, perspectives de l'élargissement, politiques de voisinnage..
• ENVIRONNEMENT MONETAIRE ET FINANCIER
  Le cadre monétaire européen et international et les dispositions communautaires influant sur la gestion financière des entreprises et des collectivités. Les sources de financement communautaires et internationales pour les entreprises, administrations et collectivités.
• METHODOLOGIE DU LOBBYING
  Stratégie et objectifs - Les réseaux - Analyse du champ des forces et des enjeux - Méthodes d'intervention auprès des Institutions - Argumentation - Communication - Coûts et efficacité - Les réseaux et spécificités sectorielles.

LA PRATIQUE PROFESSIONNELLE

• Les ateliers de recherche et missions de conseil
  Etudes et/ou missions de conseil (par groupes de 3-4 étudiants) réalisées pour le compte d'entreprises ou des fédérations professionnelles. Chaque étudiant s'investit sur 2 missions minimum.
• Le cas pratique transversal sur les " Financements européens "
  Dans le cadre d'un " Appel à projets " de la Commission cet exercice transversal - en fil rouge sur 4 mois - met en application l'ensemble des compétences acquises et la synergie des apports théoriques.
• Les Conférences Métier
  Témoignages de professionnels sur un thème précis, les conférences métier laissent une grande part aux interactions entre étudiants et professionnels : les problématiques " métier " et les " bonnes pratiques " en usage.
• Le Stage
  Au sein d'une structure professionnelle, souvent à l'étranger, l'étudiant remplit les missions d'un Consultant Junior en Affaires Européennes. Durée minimum : 8 semaines.

DISSERTATION

The Dissertation is the final and most important element of the degree. It is in the Dissertation that the various elements of knowledge and the skills (research methods, analytical tools specific to each politics-related discipline) are brought together in a piece of academic research making an original use of primary data and sources of documentation (although not necessarily creating these primary sources) in order to critically analyse and test an hypothesis with a multidisciplinary angle (historical, economic, philosophical etc.).
